Saturday afternoon just prior to 1100hrs, crews were dispatched to the 2-06 box in the 1st Block of Towpath Rd for a house fire. Crews arrived on scene with a working fire and operated for just under 2hrs before clearing the call. We would like to thank Northeast Fire & Rescue & Halifax Fire Department for transferring and covering the first due while units were committed on scene.
We would also like to once again thank Northeast Fire & Rescue, as well as Middletown Volunteer Fire Department for providing manpower to cover our station while Duncannon Fire Company members and family gathered for our annual banquet. Northeast provided 5 members to cover the Squad, and Middletown provided 4 members to cover the Truck.
While members were attending the banquet, the standby crews handled 4 calls for service. Just after 1700hrs, the Squad crew split taking the Brush and Tanker to Dauphin - Middle Paxton Fire Company’s first due for a brush fire. While those units were tied up, the Truck handled an electric hazard in the 2-08 box, which they arrived finding a kite string tangled in a cable line which they removed. Around 2045hrs, the Squad and Truck responded to an unknown type fire outside in the 2-05 box, and arrived finding a bon fire which was under control. An hour later, the Squad and Truck responded to its final call of the night in the 2-02 box for an outside investigation where caller heard explosions outside of his residence. Crews were able to find a campfire in the area, and nothing else was located.
